TRANSPORTATION FUNDAMENTALS
It’s the ABCs of managing your parcel transportation. If you think that you can’t control costs outside your dock doors, you need to attend these sessions. Back by popular demand are two sessions on negotiating contracts—the human side of negotiation (know when to hold ‘em!) and the carrier contract itself. Six other sessions round out this track, providing you with extensive know-how to best manage delivery issues. The track ends with an open Q&A so that you have the opportunity to get free advice from transportation experts. Take back just one of these ideas, and you can save, save, save.
TRANSPORTATION MASTERS
For those of you who have been in the industry awhile, we have developed a track to help you improve your transportation planning. Our PARCEL advisors selected seven of the hottest advanced transportation topics they think are critical in 2010. Our Peer-to-Peer session gives you an opportunity to sit with other transportation planners in an open forum to get feedback on issues you are facing today. We end this track with a Power Session on mitigating rate hikes and accessorial charges. No matter how experienced you are, there are always new ideas to be gleaned from experts and peers.
APPLYING TECHNOLOGY
There is no argument today that technology can radically reduce costs and improve quality. But… you need to make the right technology choices. In four of the seven sessions, your peers will be sharing just how technology benefited them, along with the pitfalls in implementing new ideas. This track also has a Peer-to-Peer open forum, hosted by one of the PARCEL Forum advisors, in which you can network and share ideas. There’s no part of the parcel process that we haven’t included. After attending these sessions, you will return to your office with new ideas for implementing technology with great ROIs.
ENHANCING OPERATIONS
Most managers are being asked to do more with less these days, so we have a lineup of educational sessions that will help you do just that by becoming more efficient throughout your operation. From best practices to employing technology to the effect of packaging, we have it all. The topics in these sessions are relevant and ones you can “steal” to use in your own operation. A peer-to-peer session has been added to give you even more opportunity to network and address your specific concerns. It won’t be quite so hard to do more with less after attending these sessions. .

We are excited about this brand-new track in which we have two special events: Metrics Day and Executive Day.
METRICS DAY
You wanted it; you got it! The PARCEL Forum advisors, on your behalf, said that metrics and KPIs are critical to their companies’ successes and, hence, to their careers. But just what do you measure, when and how do you measure and what do you do with the data once you have it? Tuesday, October 5th, is dedicated to Metrics. The morning kicks off with a continental breakfast for those of you looking to meet people from your area with whom you can establish 1-1 networking groups around metrics and other issues. Next, we unveil the results of the Metrics Survey of PARCEL magazine readers, your peers. You can find out who is doing what! Then two of your peers will share their experiences and be available throughout the day for questions and idea-sharing. And, finally, an expert will discuss the winning combination of Six Sigma and metrics. You can spend the afternoon in the Exhibit Hall finding tools to assist you and end the day at the Opening Night Reception, where you can mingle and talk with others about what they are doing on the metrics front. It’s a day you will not want to miss.
EXECUTIVE DAY
Join us Wednesday, October 6th for Executive Day. Performance Leadership is all about going beyond the job description and implementing or recommending new concepts that will set your company apart and ahead of the competition. You will begin the day by understanding that what you do in developing logistics strategies and processes just may be patentable! Then learn from Michael Warber how he enacted an employee suggestion program at Siemens that went far beyond expectation, with great rewards to his company. You can then spend a couple of hours in the exhibit hall before attending the PARCEL Forum’s renowned Carriers Executive Roundtable. Hear from top executives what their plans are for the future and feel free to ask questions of them. The afternoon starts with a session on career insurance, letting you know how to make yourself invaluable to your company—it’s a win-win for you and your company. End the day at one of two special closing events on either transportation or operations. We also have high-level sessions throughout the conference; you are welcome to mix and match your preferences.
